Algebraic Models for Contextual Nets

چکیده
We extend the algebraic approach of Meseguer and Montanari from ordinary place/transition Petri nets to contextual nets, covering both the collective and the individual token philosophy uniformly along the two interpretations of net behaviors.

Algebraic Theories for Contextual Pre-nets
The algebraic models of computation for contextual nets that have been proposed in the literature either rely on a non-free monoid of objects, or introduce too many fictitious behaviors that must be somewhat filtered out. In this paper, we exploit partial membership equational logic to define a suitable theory of models, where the meaningful concurrent computations can be selected by means of m...

متن کاملTwo Algebraic Process Semantics for Contextual Nets
We show that the so-called ‘Petri nets are monoids’ approach initiated by Meseguer and Montanari can be extended from ordinary place/transition Petri nets to contextual nets by considering suitable nonfree monoids of places. The algebraic characterizations of net concurrent computations we provide cover both the collective and the individual token philosophy, uniformly along the two interpretat...
متن کاملContextual Petri Nets, Asymmetric Event Structures, and Processes
We present an event structure semantics for contextual nets, an extension of P/T Petri nets where transitions can check for the presence of tokens without consuming them (read-only operations). A basic rôle is played by asymmetric event structures, a generalization of Winskel’s prime event structures where symmetric conflict is replaced by a relation modelling asymmetric conflict or weak causal...
متن کاملMcMillan's Complete Prefix for Contextual Nets
In a seminal paper, McMillan proposed a technique for constructing a finite complete prefix of the unfolding of bounded (i.e., finitestate) Petri nets, which can be used for verification purposes. Contextual nets are a generalisation of Petri nets suited to model systems with readonly access to resources. When working with contextual nets, a finite complete prefix can be obtained by applying Mc...
